Course

Hofu Yomiuri Marathon Course – certified by JAAF and WA/AIMS: 42.195km
Prefectural road in front of Kirin Lemon Stadium Salt Arena Hofu ~ Oaza Tajima, Hofu (turnaround point) ~ Kirin Lemon Stadium Athletics Stadium The record of one mile, 15km, 20km, half, 25km, 30km and the marathon of the athletes who completed the race will be certified.

Relay broadcast on TV and radio by KRY – Yamaguchi Broadcasting Co. Ltd.

Qualification

Athletes satisfying all 1・2・3 requirements:
  1. over 19 years old on the race day
  2. have a certified record of the specified time at an international or a domestic race between November 1, 2018 (November 1, 2019 for elite men) and the deadline of the application for this race.

    The net time is also acceptable.

    General (men, women, Yamaguchi Prefecture resident spots, Shiawasemasu Hofu spots, Hometown Tax payer spots)

    (ⅰ) Marathon: 4:00:00 or shorter

    (ⅱ) Half-marathon: 1:33:00 or shorter

    Submission of the certificate (a certificate of a race completion and the record) is required.

    Elite men

    (ⅰ) Marathon: 2:26:00 or shorter

    (ⅱ) Half-marathon: 1:06:00 or shorter

    Submission of the certificate is required.

    (ⅲ) JMC Series Ⅱ Ranking: Men top 200

  • Shiawasemasu Hofu spots: athletes who are the registered resident of Hofu City.
  • Hometown Tax payer spots: athletes who paid Hometown Tax with the entitlement to participate in this race.

Regulations

This race will be conducted in accordance with the latest regulations of WA, and JAAF, and the rules of this road race. This is a WA Elite Label Road Race; thus WA Road Race Label Regulations and WA Advertising Regulations will also be applied. The doping test will be carried out under WA regulations. As for the IPC registered athletes, IPC Athletics Rules and Regulations, and the rules of this race will be applied.

Method

  1. Time regulations will be enforced on the signal gun as follows:
    Athletes who fail to pass a check point before the time limit below will be disqualified and unable to continue the race thereon. Please follow the instructions of the officials to stop the race and get on the sweep bus.

  2. Judged to be too late, and to cause a traffic security problem at any point of the race, the athlete must follow the instructions of the officials, stop the race, and get on the sweep bus.
  3. Water stations are set up at the following points: 4km, 8km, 14km, 17.4km, 22km, 27km, 34km, 39km. (Sponges or snacks are not available.)

Procedure:
Enter from the Internet (RUNTES). Follow the user policy and attach the image data of your certificate from “my-page”. The athletes chosen to participate must make the payment for the entry fee by the above deadline.
IPC registered athletes
Procedure:
Fill in the designated transfer form sent from the secretariat, and make the payment for the entry fee at a post office. Then, send the secretariat your certificate etc. satisfying the qualifications.
  • The designated transfer form cannot be passed onto anyone else.
  • The file format of the certificate is JPEG.

Submission of the Record Certificate

  1. Submit the image data of your certificate (of the race you specified on the application) through “my-page” on RUNNET by the deadline date of each application. The record must be the one (net time will also be accepted) of an international or a domestic race after November 1, 2018 (November 1, 2019 for elite men) .
  2. Athletes who apply for this race using the record of Hofu Yomiuri Marathon (49th~53rd) do not need to submit the certificate as the secretariat confirms the record.
  3. Please fill in the accurate race name, the race date, and the record of the race on the Record Entry Column.
  4. Once the payment of the entry fee is confirmed by the secretariat, the entry is considered completed. The name of athletes who completed the entry will be posted on the website of this race.
  5. If the payment for the entry fee is not completed by the deadline, the application will be cancelled. Any payment after the deadline will not be made.

Award

General men and women / Elite men : the first to the eighth of each division.
  1. The winner (man and woman) will be presented with a winning trophy, and the best rookie (man) with Hamamura Cup / Sadanaga Cup.
  2. The fastest athlete (man and woman) whose address is in Yamaguchi will be awarded. (The First Prize of Yamaguchi Prefecture)
  3. The top three athletes (men) in their forties, fifties, and over sixties will be awarded.
  4. The excellent runner from overseas will be awarded with International Goodwill Kotoku Cup.
  5. The invited athletes with the outstanding record will be awarded The Fighting Spirit Award.
IPC registered athletes-man and woman : the first of each division
The top three athletes (women) registered in IPC will be awarded from Japan Blind Women Marathon.

Please register with the QR Code on the Participation Guide using the QR Code scanner placed at the venue.

  • The Participation Guide, the athlete bib, the timing chip, and the designated storage bag for valuables will be sent to you by two weeks before the race.
  • Please check the tournament website regarding the shuttle buses.

Personal information

  1. The organizers, sponsors, JAAF and the third party granted by the organizers, sponsors and/or JAAF may post the image, pictures, articles and/or personal records etc. on a booklet, a poster, promotional products, TV, radio, newspaper, magazines and/or the Internet for the operating and advertising purposes.
  2. The motion video data may be broadcast on TV or the Internet.
  3. Using the image or pictures of the race (including distribution on the Internet) without the permission of the organizers is strictly prohibited.
  4. Personal information will be used to improve the services to the athletes, to confirm the entry, to mail necessary document, to prepare race completion certificates, and when announcing the record time. In addition, the organizers may contact you for the news coverage or broadcasting programs.
  5. Image, pictures, articles and personal record (name, age, gender, portrait, etc.) may be broadcast, posted or used on newspapers, TV, radios, DVDs, programs, posters, the Internet, etc. The license to post or use them shall belong to the organizers.
  6. Photos etc. approved by organizers may be sold on commission.

Doping Control

  1. This race is conducted under WA Anti-Doping Rules and Regulations or Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) Code. The test may be conducted sometime between 23:59 the night before the road race and the time when the race is closed. Urine and/or blood sample will be taken. Athletes shall follow the instructions of the officials and take the test.
  2. Athletes subject to the doping test must present the identification with a photo, such as the student ID, employee ID, driver’s license, or a clear copy of a passport. Please bring one to the race.
  3. The athletes who participate in this race (including those under 18 years old ) shall be deemed to have agreed on the regulations of JADA, and to be subject to the doping control procedures upon the point of the entry of the race. Those who are under 18 years old are regarded to have approval of a person who has their parental authority upon the point of the entry.
  4. Athletes who are under 18 years old must bring the letter of consent signed by the person who has their parental authority regardless of (3) above. Please download the consent form on the website of JADA (https://www.playtruejapan.org/jada/u18.html) . When athletes under 18 become subject to the doping test, they must submit the letter of consent signed by the person who has parental authority to the assigned inspector. If athletes become subject to the doping test again after the submission of the letter of consent, please state that the letter is already submitted on the point of the test. If the letter cannot be submitted, please forward it to JADA Secretariat within 7 days after the test by post. Not having a letter of consent from a person who has parental authority does not have any influence on procedures of doping test.
  5. Athletes who participate in this race must learn about anti-doping on JADA Clean Sports Athlete Site (https://realchampion.jp) the QR Code on the right. in advance.
  6. An athlete who refuses or escapes from the doping test (urine and/or blood sample), does not follow the instructions of the doping inspectors, or does not complete the test due to the personal reasons, may be considered to violate the anti-doping regulations. Please note that JADA will impose sanctions upon the athlete when he/she is judged to violate them.
  7. Please be aware that athletes subject to the blood testing must take a rest for two hours after the race before being able to take the sample.
  8. TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) Athletes who must use the prohibited substance or method specified on The Prohibited List for treatment must apply and be approved for TUE prior to the race. Please refer to https://www.jaaf.or.jp/about/resist/medical/, the website of JAAF Medical Committee, or http://www.playtruejapan.org/, the website of JADA for details. You must submit the certificate or the copy of it granting TUE to the official when you are requested to take a doping test.
  9. As for the regulations of WA anti-doping, and details of rules and doping tests of JADA, please check the website of WA and JADA in advance.

Cancellation of the Road Race

The organizers may decide on the cancellation of this race due to serious spread of Infectious diseases, an earthquake, storm and flood damage. They will determine, upon calculation of the expense generated to hold the race, whether the refund will be made or not, and the amount of the refund if there is any.

  1. This race is held as a Japan Marathon Championship Series Men’s G1 race.
  2. This race is held as a Japan Marathon Championship Series Women’s G3 race.
  3. There will be no health check so please be responsible for your health conditions to participate. Organizers would provide first aid for accidents happened during the race, however not bear any further responsibility. Please bring your health insurance card in case of emergency. To give the highest priority to human life, a person with the opposite gender may administer first aid such as AED and /or chest compression.
  4. Participation by athletes who have not applied (dishonest participation) will not be admitted.
  5. No cancellation due to personal circumstances after the entry will be admitted.
  6. Athletes registered in elite men, general men and women, and IPC can apply for their special drinks placed at the water stations. Athletes who wish to apply for the placement, please write so on the application. Whether your request is approved or not, the time and place to the submit your bottles on the race day will be notified later. The bottle with a mark must be shorter than 30cm and 8cm in diameter.
  7. The size and number of the manufacturer’s name/logo, or sponsor’s name/logo on clothes etc. to be worn on the race course are strictly regulated by the Regulations Regarding Advertisements and Exhibits at Competitions. Please check the following website for the details in advance. If violated, the name/logo will be covered with masking tape. In addition, devices related to the Regulations TR6.3.2 are not allowed on the course. https://www.jaaf.or.jp/news/article/14995/
  8. The JAAF registered athletes must wear shoes in accordance with the shoe regulations of WA. Please check the regulations on the following site. https://www.jaaf.or.jp/about/resist/technical/shoes/ The shoes may be checked pre-and post-race.
  9. It is prohibited to wear outfit with or show the name/design of a company or a product for advertising purposes without the permission of the organizers. Banners and placards with claims or advertisements are also prohibited.
  10. It is not permitted for athletes to take videos or photos on the course etc. In addition, for the safe and smooth operation of the race, maneuvering and piloting unmanned aircrafts such as drones on and around the course is prohibited. Furthermore, commercial use, including SNS, of videos or photos taken by athletes or the third party without permission of organizers is prohibited.
  11. Any applications through proper procedures or without submission of the certificate will be invalid or cancelled. Please double-check on the website of this race after applying if your application is completed.
  12. The athlete bibs will be assigned in accordance to the declared best time for each category.
  13. The official certificate will be issued to only JAAF registered athletes.
  14. If you wish to have an official certificate issued, please apply for it at the reception with the fee of 600 yen. (The fee includes postage.)
  15. Costumes or outfit considered inappropriate are prohibited.
  16. Please equip the timing chip on the specified place. If it is not equipped on the specified place, it may not operate correctly. It also measures the net time as a reference.
  17. There will be a place where your valuables to be stored. Please use the valuable storage bag sent to you in advance. You need to show your bib when you deposit and withdraw your valuables.
  18. This road race will observe and be conducted in accordance with the legislation of Japan.
