Qualification

Athletes satisfying all 1・2・3 requirements:
  1. over 19 years old on the race day
  2. have a certified record of the following time at an international or a domestic race between November 1, 2018 and the deadline of the application for this race.

    The record should be gross time.

    General (men, women, Yamaguchi Prefecture resident spots, Shiawasemasu Hofu spots, Hometown Tax payer spots)

    Marathon: 4 hours or shorter

    Half-marathon: 1 hour 33 minutes or shorter

    Submission of the certificate is required.

    Elite men

    Marathon: 2 hours 26 minutes or shorter

    Half-marathon: 1 hour 6 minutes or shorter

    Submission of the certificate is required.

  3. JAAF-registered athletes or not registered athletes for 2022
Following requirements must also be satisfied by applicants for Yamaguchi Prefecture resident spots, Shiawasemasu Hofu spots, and Hometown Tax payer

  • Yamaguchi Prefecture resident spots – athletes who are the registered resident of Yamaguchi Prefecture
  • Shiawasemasu Hofu spots – athletes who are the registered resident of Hofu City, or who work or study in Hofu City
  • Hometown Tax payer spots – athletes who paid Hometown Tax of 50,000 yen or more to Hofu City, and whose address is not registered in Hofu City

Regulations

This race will be conducted in accordance with the latest regulations of WA, and JAAF, and the rules of this road race. This is a WA Elite Label Road Race; thus WA Road Race Label Regulations and WA Advertising Regulations will also be applied.
The doping test will be carried out under WA regulations. As for the IPC registered athletes, IPC Athletics Rules and Regulations, and the rules of this race will be applied.

Method

  1. Athletes who fail to pass a check point before the time limit below will be disqualified and unable to continue the race thereon. Please follow the instructions of the officials to stop the race and get on the sweep bus.

  2. Judged to be too late, and to cause a traffic security problem at any point of the race, the athlete must follow the instructions of the officials, stop the race, and get on the sweep bus.
  3. Water stations are set up at the following points: 4km, 8km, 14km, 17.4km, 22km, 27km, 34km, 39km. (Sponge or snacks are not available.)

The Clothes and Accessories Allowed to be worn or to be brought onto the course

The size and the number of a name/logo of a manufacturer or a sponsor on clothes and accessories to be worn or brought onto the course are strictly regulated by the Marketing and Advertising Regulations. Please check the following website for the details in advance. If violated, the name/logo will be covered with masking tape. In addition, devices related to the Regulations TR6.3.2 are not allowed on the course.

Procedure:
Apply for the race through the Internet (RUNTES), and send the photo data of your record certificate from “my-page” following the user policy. The athletes chosen to participate must make the payment of the entry fee by the above deadline.
IPC Registered
Procedure:
Fill in the designated transfer form from the secretariat, and make the payment of the entry fee at a post office. Then, send the secretariat your record certificate etc. satisfying the qualifications to enter.
  • The designated transfer form cannot be passed onto anyone else.
  • The file format of the record certificate is JPEG

Submission of the Record Certificate and the Address Confirmation

  1. Submit the photo data of your record certificate through “my-page” on RUNNET by the deadline date of the application. The record must be the gross time and the one of the accredited race by JAAF after November 1, 2018.
  2. Athletes using the official record of Hofu Yomiuri Marathon (49th~52nd) do not have to submit the record certificate.
  3. Please fill in the accurate name, the date, and the record of the race on the Record Entry Column.
  4. Once the payment of the entry fee is confirmed by the secretariat, the entry is considered completed. The name of athletes who completed the entry will be posted on the homepage of this race.
  5. If the payment of the entry fee is not completed by the deadline, the entry will be cancelled. In this case, there will be no refund.

Award

General men and women / Elite men:

the first to the eighth of each division.

  1. The top athlete (man and woman) will be presented with a winning trophy, and the male best rookie with Hamamura Cup / Sadanaga Cup.
  2. The excellent runner (man) will be dispatched to the international race, etc.
  3. The fastest athlete (man and woman) whose address is in Yamaguchi will be awarded. (The First Prize of Yamaguchi Prefecture)
  4. The top three athletes (men) in their forties, fifties, and over sixties will be awarded.
  5. The excellent runner from overseas will be awarded with International Goodwill Kotoku Cup.
  6. The invited athletes with the outstanding record will be awarded The Fighting Spirit Award.
IPC registered athletes-man and woman:
the first of each division
TThe top three athletes (women) registered in IPC will be awarded from Japan Blind Women Marathon.

Please register with the QR Code on the Participation Guide using the QR Code scanner placed at the venue.

  • The Participation Guide, the health check sheet, the athlete bib, the timing chip and the designated bag for valuables storage service will be sent to you by two weeks before the race.
  • Please submit the result of the health check sheet before registering on the race day as a COVID-19 measurement.
  • There will be a free shuttle buses between JR Hofu Station (Minato Exit), Shiosai Fish Market (west side of the parking lot), and Salt Arena Hofu.

Special Drink

Elite men, general men/women and IPC registered athletes can have their personal drink placed at the water stations. Athletes who wish to have them must state so on the application. Whether it is approved or not, the place and time to submit your bottles will be notified later. The bottle including a mark must be shorter than 30 cm, and smaller than 8 cm in diameter.

Personal information

  1. The organizers, sponsors, and the third party granted by the organizers/sponsors may post the image, pictures, articles and/or personal records etc. on a booklet, a poster, promotional products, TV, radio, newspaper, magazines and/or the Internet for the operating and advertising purposes.
  2. The motion video data may be distributed on TV or the Internet.
  3. Using the image or pictures of the race (including distribution on the Internet) without the permission of the organizers is strictly prohibited.
  4. Personal information will be used to improve the services to the athletes, to confirm the entry, to mail necessary document, to prepare race completion certificates, and when announcing the record of the time. In addition, the organizers may contact you for the news coverage or broadcasting programs.

Doping Control

  1. This race is conducted under WA Anti-Doping Rules and Regulations or Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) Code. The test may be conducted sometime between 23:59 the night before the road race and the time when the race is closed.
    Urine and/or blood sample will be taken. Athletes shall follow the instructions of the officials.
  2. Athletes subject to the doping test must present the identification with a photo, such as the student ID, employee ID, driver’s license, or a clear copy of a passport. Please bring one to the race.
  3. The athletes who participate in this race shall be deemed to be subject to the doping control procedures, and to follow the regulations of JADA, upon the point of the entry of the race.
  4. An athlete who refuses or escapes from the doping test (urine and/or blood sample), does not follow the instructions of the doping inspectors, or does not complete the test due to the personal reasons, may be considered to violate the anti-doping regulations. Please note that JADA will impose sanctions upon the athlete when he/she is judged to violate them.
  5. Please be aware that athletes subject to the blood testing must take a rest for two hours after the race before being able to take the sample.
  6. TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) Athletes who must use the prohibited substance or method specified on The Prohibited List for treatment must apply and be approved for TUE prior to the race. Please refer to https://www.jaaf.or.jp/about/resist/medical/, the website of JAAF Medical Committee, or http://www.playtruejapan.org/, the website of JADA for details. You must submit the certificate or the copy of it granting TUE to the official when you are requested to take a doping test.
  7. As for the details of rules and tests of JADA, please check the website of JADA on http://www.playtruejapan.org in advance.

Health check

As there is no health examinations, participants should go through adequate training in advance and be responsible for their health conditions. People with underlying diseases tend to have higher risk of having more serious symptoms when infected with COVID-19. Such people should have medical check and get approval of a doctor before applying for the race.

COVID-19 Measurements

To secure the safety of all involved in this road race, the race will be managed in accordance with the “Guidance on Resuming Road Racing” set by JAAF, and take the necessary prevention measures against COVID-19. Due to the changes in the guidelines of JAAF, the guidelines of this race may also change.

Cancellation of the Road Race

The organizers may decide on the cancellation of this road race when the spread of the COVID-19 infection becomes serious. They will determine, upon calculation of the expense generated to hold the race, whether the refund will be made or not, and the amount of the refund if there is any. In that case, the right to participate in this race will lapse and not be carried over for the following race.

  1. This race will be held as a race of Japan Marathon Championship Series (G1 – Men’s).
  2. It is prohibited to wear outfit with or show the name/design of a company or a product for advertising purposes without the permission of the organizers. Banners and placards with claims or advertisements are also prohibited.
  3. An official record certificate will be published to JAAF registered athletes.
  4. If you wish to have a record certificate (the fee – 600 yen including the postage), please apply for it with the fee at the reception.
  5. Athletes must bring the health insurance card (or the copy) in case of the health examination due to injury, etc.
  6. Costumes or outfit considered inappropriate are prohibited.
  7. Please equip the timing chip on the specified place. If it is equipped somewhere else, it may not operate correctly. It also measures the net time as a reference.
  8. The storage service of your valuables will be available. If you wish to use the service, please use the designated bag sent to you in advance. You need to show your athlete bib when you deposit them and have them returned.
  9. Please be aware that IC cards cannot be used at JR Hofu Station.
  10. This road race will observe and be conducted in accordance with the legislation of Japan.

Application Terms

(Apply for the race after consenting to the terms below)

  1. Organizers do NOT bear any responsibility for accidents, sickness, loss or theft except providing first aid. To give the highest priority to human life, a person with the opposite gender may administer first aid such as AED and/or chest compression.
  2. No changes or cancellation after the entry.
  3. Any false statement of age or gender, or wrongful act (e.g.: someone else runs for the athlete who applied) cannot be admitted. The entry will be cancelled, and the future application may be denied. The organizers hold no compensation in that case.
  4. The application becomes invalid or cancelled if you fail to follow the procedures when applying for the race or to submit the record certificate, etc. After applying, please confirm on the official website that your entry is completed.
  5. No refund will be made in the case of (1) / (2) / (3) above, and payment in excess or duplicate.
  6. Cancellation of the race due to earthquakes, storms, flood, snow, incidents, accidents, and diseases, the organizers judge whether or not, and the amount of the entry fee to be returned.
  7. Image, pictures, articles and record (name, age, gender, portrait, etc.) may be broadcasted, posted or used on newspapers, TV, radios, DVDs, programs, posters, the Internet, etc. The license to post or use them shall belong to the organizers.
